Drivetrain Power and Propulsion provides a range of mechanical and electrical/electronic engineering services to the defence, resources, maritime, power generation and rail industries, including engineering design, repair and maintenance and spares support, with key niche expertise in delivering power and propulsion solutions. Drivetrain Power and Propulsion is also the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the Hedemora range of diesel engines which includes those in operation onboard Australia’s Collins Class Submarines.

Engineering services include mechanical and electrical/electronic design and consultancy services, as well as engineering project management. Hedemora provides manufacturing and fabrication services such as diesel engines, ancillaries and components, electronic/electrical asset control systems and portable plant (lighting towers, arrow and message boards and generators). Repair and maintenance services include diesel and gas engines for rail, marine and power generation; turbochargers, pumps, fuel injection and other ancillary equipment. Electronic/electric equipment including navigation systems, asset control and monitoring as well as custom electronic equipment are also among Drivetrain’s capabilities.

Drivetrain provides comprehensive spare parts provisioning for diesel engines, ancillaries and other industrial equipment.

Our service capabilities include:

• Inspection, testing and machining includes, non destructive magnetic crack testing, fuel pump and injector testing, cylinder head pressure testing, hardness testing and surface finish measurement.

• Cylinder Head remanufacture including, reconditioning, chemical cleaning, surface machining, magnetic particle UV light crack detection, pressure testing, valve guide replacement, valve seat machining & insert replacement, valve facing, injector tube replacement, injector seat machining, pre–combustion chamber replacement and thread repairing,  cylinder head welding, rebuilding and machining manifold faces and crack repairs.

• Cylinder Block servicing including, chemical cleaning,  pressure testing, facing and rebuilding, machining counter bores, fitting of counter bore inserts, sleeving bottom liner seal position, reboring and honing,  cam follower/lifter bore resleeving, lower deck resleeving, cam tunnel resleeving, tunnels – boring, inserts, thermal arc spraying and reclamation, thrust repairs, Top Decks – Machining, Counter Bore Insertion and Boring, repairing water ferrule positions, repairs to idle gear and electrolysis repair.

• Connecting Rod servicing including, rebushing, crack testing, proof testing, re-alignment, big end resizing and gudgeon bush reboring.

• Crankshaft servicing including, crack & hardness testing,  measuring journal sizes, straightness, seal position repair, electronic surface finish measurement, regrinding and polishing.

• Engineering Services include, thread repair, flywheel replacing, MG and TIG welding, metal spraying, resleeving and facing, specialised machining and modifications to accessories, flywheel housing repairs, broken bolt and stud removal.

Guascor Gas Engines & Gensets

Drivetrain Power and Propulsion is the sole distributor and official workshop for Guascor engines in Australia.

Guascor manufacture a range of high efficient robust engines and generators with electrical output from 150kW through 1200kW.  These engines operate on a variety of fuels including Natural Gas, Coal Seam, Sewage, Landfill, Bio and many other Renewable and fossil sources.

Drivetrain provides specialist application engineering from project appraisal and financial analysis right through to commissioning and ongoing operation and maintenance.
